Amazing building the chapel is beautiful. It's all done really well the wall of rememberance, the reflection poo,l and the last post. A very respectful, peaceful place to go to remember those who lost their lives fighting for this country and our freedom

Just a fascinating place...so much history on display. Excellent staff who all seem to go the extra mile to help with any inquiry you might have. Spent the entire day there and didn't get to see everything. Stayed for the Last Post Ceremony which was a wonderful way to finish off the day.

Still one of the best attractions in Canberra. Well designed layout for all major conflicts and periods of Australian history in commemoration of those who have served and sacrificed for our nation. Sombre and respectful feel throughout the exhibitions, and free entry with free tours for anyone interested

One of the main reasons for our trip to Canberra. The memorial offers a place of solice for the fallen as well as a meticulously curated museum that highlights the horrors of war. An unfortunately needed reminder of the sacrifices made over the years We were lucky enough to get onto one of the volunteer run 80min guided walks - well worth it if you can as it truly enriched the experience. Our guide Ross was incredible and it felt like he should have been a paid for his time such was his level of knowledge and engagement. Thank you once again Ross - you are a wonderful guide. The museum will hopefully have it's extension completed soon so will be able to offer even even more insight into the workings of of service men, women and animals.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is very moving. In the museum portion there is alot to see. Excellent design and layout of the museum. Extremely informative. But the Tomb and Honor Roll Call is a definite must see.

The Australian War Memorial exceeded my expectations with its extensive and detailed exhibition areas covering major conflicts such as World War I, World War II, and the Cold War. The depth of the displays and the rich storytelling truly impressed me. The memorial itself is beautiful. The poppies adorning the honour rolls serve as a beautiful and meaningful tribute to those who served.Visiting the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was a moving experience. The space, with its tall walls and stunning glass windows, felt like entering a grand cathedral, a place of solemnity and reflection. The surrounding grounds are immaculate, adding to the peace and reverence of the entire site. I now understand why the Australian War Memorial is so highly rated by visitors.Overall, the Australian War Memorial is a powerful combination of history, artistry, and respect, making it a must-visit for anyone wanting to connect with Australia's military heritage. It offers a deeply emotional, educational, and memorable experience that truly honors those who served.

A wonderful memorial to Australia's heroes. Touching and thought provoking. Some of the best preserved and displayed artifacts and diorama I have ever seen. Peer to Quantico and the best of DC and London. Bravo Zulu to the crew... you have all done an amazing job.

The Australian War Memorial is an incredibly moving and beautifully curated place. It’s not just a museum, it’s a powerful tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of so many Australians. The exhibits are detailed, respectful and deeply engaging and the Last Post ceremony is an absolute must-see. A quick tip - the galleries close promptly at 4 p.m. to prepare for the ceremony, so it’s best to arrive at least an hour and a half earlier to explore everything properly. The staff are warm and knowledgeable and the grounds are beautifully maintained. A truly meaningful experience that stays with you long after you leave.

I grew up with the stories of Gelibolu (Gallipoli) in my hometown. Our stories were not so different from yours — in the end, both sides lost their loved ones. Today I couldn’t stop my tears as I walked through the memorial. It is vast, powerful, and deeply moving. It also reminds you that ANZAC soldiers did not fight only in Gallipoli; they have been sent to conflicts across the world, across generations, and many families are still carrying that sacrifice. It is heartbreaking that humanity needs memorials for war. I wish wars had never existed. Yet I am grateful Australia chose to build this place — so we remember that the safety and peace we enjoy today were given to us by people whose names we may never know. As a Turkish-Australian woman 🇹🇷🇭🇲, I hold respect for both sides of history. Wherever you lie — including my hometown, Gallipoli — rest in peace. We honour your sacrifice, and we are grateful to live and breathe freely in this country today because of you.
